Helps set up and tear down concession stand. Assigned to work for<\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">one half of the meet.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">DECK PARENT<br><\/span>Supervises the swimmers during meets, marks arms of\u00a0swimmers with event\/heat\/lane, keeps track of swimmers \u2013 as best as\u00a0they reasonably can \u2013 between events, and gets swimmers to the ready bench on time with caps and\u00a0goggles. For most age groups, several parents will share this job. This position is obviously more\u00a0important for the younger swimmers.<\/p>\n<p><b style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\">HEAD TIMER<br><\/b><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Organizes and briefs the Lane Timers on their duties prior to the meet and is in charge of <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">the lane timers throughout the meet. The head timer has the authority to remove and replace any lane <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">timer, with the approval of the home meet director. <i>Previous experience required for this position.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>LANE TIMERS<br><\/b>Records the swimmer\u2019s time. Each timer is provided a stopwatch and assigned a lane; there are two timers for each lane. Both times are recorded and the average time becomes the official time. This job gives you the best view of the pool and the swimmers during their races.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>READY BENCH<\/b><br>Using the provided heat sheet, Ready Bench volunteers line the swimmers up in the correct event, heat, and lane and take them to their correct positions at the end of the lanes for their event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\">SET UP<br><\/b><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Sets up the pool area for the swim meet. Moves deck chairs, <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">announcer stand and ready bench. Sets up backstroke flags.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">STARTER<br><\/span>Starts each event with the announcement of the age and stroke and the words \u201cSWIMMERS\u00a0TAKE YOUR MARK\u201d, pauses to make sure that all swimmers are motionless, and then gives an electronic\u00a0sound or a blast of a whistle. He\/She shall be the sole judge of FALSE STARTS and all false starts shall be\u00a0restarted. This individual must be trained for this position.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">STROKE OFFICIAL<br><\/span>Work in pairs on each side of the pool with one member of a pair being from each\u00a0team. Judges only rule on infractions on their side of the pool. They observe strokes, turns, and finishes\u00a0to see that swimmers comply with requirements for that stroke. <i>Training is required for this position.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>TAKE DOWN<br><\/b>During the last few minutes of a meet the crew begins taking down and storing items in preparation for vacating the pool immediately after the meet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parent\/guardian participation is required at meets ANNOUNCERAnnounces first, second, and final calls for each event.
